JOB TITLE: COUNSELOR

Supervised by:

Program Director/Senior Supervisors

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility is for providing direct specialized treatment services to a group of ten to twelve youths. Assists the group in organizing, planning, and executing therapeutic activities which are designed to meet the needs of the group and to facilitate the positive growth and development of individual youths in a therapeutic manner.

Qualifications:

A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
B. Experience: None required.

Physical Requirements:

A. Strenuous climbing of forested hills; ability to walk (and on occasion, run) one-half mile up or down steep grade.
B. Routine mobility to include stooping, bending, lifting, walking and running.
C. Ability to walk up or down steep grade with approximately forty pounds of emergency equipment.
D. Ability to endure moderate to extreme weather conditions.
E. Visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
F. English language.

General Requirements:

A. High moral and ethical values according to program philosophy.
B. Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
C. Good communication and interpersonal skills, including both verbal and non-verbal.
D. Willingness to work with residents whose behavior may be out of control.
